Todays task with West Dartmoor Art Courses has been to draw simple form using coloured pencils.
The main skill used in drawing is looking at form, and transfering what you see to the paper in a co-ordinated way. Your hand and your eye have to learn how to work together.
Using simple forms and drawing them sequentially we encouraged our students to examine simple cylinder shapes. To do this they looked at where the form was in ralation to a horizon and then to newly addded forms.
In a series of excersizes designed to challenge the artist to consider relationships and the effect of one object against another we worked on positive and negative forms, perspective and preportion.
